SkyWater Search is partnering with a leading environmental and scientific testing organization to identify a General Manager for one of their key laboratory operations in the Lenexa, KS market.


This role will oversee laboratory operations, field services, financial performance, and team leadership for a complex regulated testing environment. The organization is seeking a hands-on operational leader capable of driving culture, accountability, operational excellence, and long-term business growth.


This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity for someone excited about improving operations, developing teams, and making a measurable impact within a nationally recognized scientific services organization.


Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day laboratory and operational activities while ensuring high service levels, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Own site-level P&L performance including budgeting, forecasting, operational metrics, and resource allocation
  • Build, coach, and develop managers and employees across laboratory and operational functions
  • Drive operational improvements related to turnaround time, productivity, customer satisfaction, and process efficiency
  • Foster a strong culture of accountability, engagement, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, workforce planning, and long-term operational growth
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, quality, and industry regulations and standards
  • Analyze operational performance data and implement corrective actions to improve business results


Desired Skills And Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience within laboratory operations, environmental testing, scientific services, or another regulated operational environment
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership and experience managing budgets, operational performance, and financial accountability
  • Proven ability to lead and develop multi-functional teams in fast-paced operational environments
  • Strong background driving operational improvement, process optimization, and organizational change initiatives
  • Experience building culture, developing talent pipelines, and improving employee engagement preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Operations, Engineering, or a related field preferred
