Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) -- 215 Endorsement

Position Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist provides comprehensive speech, language, and communication services to students in accordance with state and federal guidelines. The SLP evaluates, identifies, and treats communication disorders; collaborates with educators and families; and ensures students receive highâ??quality, individualized support that promotes academic and social success. A valid 215 endorsement is required.

Key Responsibilities

Assessment & Identification

  • Conduct screenings, evaluations, and diagnostic assessments for students suspected of having speech, language, voice, fluency, or communication disorders.
  • Interpret assessment data and prepare clear, actionable reports for IEP teams.
  • Participate in eligibility determinations in compliance with IDEA and state regulations.

Intervention & Therapy

  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans aligned with students' IEP goals.
  • Provide direct and indirect speech language services in a variety of settings (individual, small group, classroomâ??based).
  • Use evidenceâ??based practices to support articulation, language development, fluency, voice, and social communication skills.

Collaboration & Support

  • Serve as a key member of the IEP team, contributing expertise in communication development.
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, and support staff to integrate communication strategies into classroom instruction.
  • Provide guidance to families on supporting communication skills at home.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate, timely records of evaluations, therapy sessions, progress monitoring, and IEP documentation.
  • Ensure all services meet state standards, district policies, and federal special education requirements.
  • Participate in professional development to maintain licensure and stay current with best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Mississippi 215 Endorsement (Speechâ??Language Pathologist).
  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current state licensure and/or ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCCSLP) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, communication disorders, and schoolâ??based service delivery.
