Role - IT Manager (Hands-on)
Company type - Small Irish Managed Service Provider (MSP) located in Dublin, providing Microsoft Infrastructure, IT Ops & Security services to SME firms
Location - 3 days onsite in Dublin, 2 days onsite in Athlone
Reports into - Managing Director
Team Size - Locally a team of 6 with an offshore Helpdesk/Service Desk team of 10 people
Role overview:
We are seeking an experienced IT Manager to act as an embedded technology leader for our clients. The successful candidate will serve as the client's outsourced IT Manager, providing strategic guidance, overseeing day-to-day technology operations and acting as the primary point of contact for all IT-related matters.
The role combines leadership, technical oversight and relationship management while working closely with internal delivery teams and client stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership
- Act as the dedicated IT Manager for assigned client accounts
- Build strong relationships with client leadership teams and department managers
- Attend client management and operational meetings
- Understand business objectives and align technology accordingly
- Provide trusted technology advice and recommendations
IT Strategy & Planning
- Develop client technology roadmaps
- Recommend infrastructure improvements and digital transformation initiatives
- Identify risks and opportunities
- Prepare IT budgets and forecasting
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning
Service Delivery Oversight
- Coordinate support teams and technical resources both on site and remote resources
- Monitor SLAs and service performance
- Escalate and manage critical incidents
- Review ticket trends and recurring issues
- Ensure proactive maintenance activities are completed
Infrastructure & Cloud Management
- Oversee: Microsoft 365 environments, Azure infrastructure, Entra ID, Endpoint management, Networks and firewalls, Backup platforms, Cloud services
- Coordinate migrations and infrastructure projects
Security & Compliance
- Maintain cybersecurity best practices
- Support compliance initiatives including: ISO 27001, GDPR
- Lead security reviews and risk assessments
- Coordinate incident response activities
Team & Vendor Management
- Coordinate internal and outsourced technical teams
- Manage third-party suppliers and vendors
- Review supplier performance and contracts
- Support offshore and remote technical resources where required
Essential Experience
- 7+ years of IT experience
- Previous management or team leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of: Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, Entra ID, Networking, Cybersecurity, Backup and disaster recovery
Client Management Experience
- Experience managing client relationships
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable presenting to senior management teams
- Experience managing multiple priorities and projects
Desirable Qualifications
- Microsoft certifications
- ITIL certification
- ISO 27001 knowledge
- Security certifications
- Project management certification
