Brief On The Organization
The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health. PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders. Project Brief
The JSW Centre for Climate Change and Health (JSW CCCH) is being established at the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) Headquarters in Delhi NCR through financial support from the JSW Foundation. This centre aims to accelerate the Government of India’s commitment to addressing the impact of climate change on human health, as outlined in the National Plan for Climate Change & Human Health. The project will address gaps in trained human resources, evidence generation, and technical capacity within India’s climate change domain. The centre will function under the overall guidance of the JSW Professorial Chair in Climate Change and Health.
Job Summary
Technical tasks related to the project, including researching funding opportunities, high-quality grant proposal development, and providing copyediting support across organizational documents to ensure clarity, consistency and accuracy of written outputs.
Deliverables
Grants Writing:
- Identify, track, and maintain a database of diverse funding opportunities (domestic and international), including maintenance of a grants calendar and submission deadlines.
- Develop grant materials, including proposals, concept notes, EOIs, ensuring alignment with donor priorities, as well as translation of programmatic work into impactful narratives, in consultation with the team.
- Collaborate with programme, finance, and technical teams to create budgets.
- Ensure compliance with domestic and international donor guidelines, formatting requirements, eligibility criteria.
- Support the preparation of grant reports, including narrative sections, in coordination with programme teams.
- Proofread and copyedit Centre’s materials (reports, briefs, proposals, newsletters, website and communication content), ensuring grammatical accuracy, structural coherence, logical flow, and fact-checking figures, citations, and references.
- Ensure consistency in tone, voice, terminology, and style across all documents in alignment with (or through development of) the organization’s style guide.
- Provide light editing, identify and flag structural or content gaps, and support the creation and maintenance of an organizational style guide where needed.
- Any other task assigned by the Supervisor/ Project PI.
- Master of Public Health or equivalent public health degree
- 4-7 years of work experience in public health, with relevant research and scientific writing experience.
- Experience of report writing, data analyses, scientific documentation, data visualization.
