We are seeking an experienced Sales Engineer to join a highly respected manufacturer’s representative firm supporting the electric utility and power distribution industry. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to transition from a traditional engineering role into a more customer-facing, high-earning position with significant autonomy and long-term growth potential.


This role will focus heavily on utility customers throughout Michigan/Detroit Metropolitan area and offers the opportunity to take over established accounts with strong existing relationships.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage and grow utility and industrial customer accounts throughout Michigan
  • Build relationships with engineers, utilities, consultants, and OEM partners
  • Provide technical product support and application guidance
  • Develop proposals, quotes, and engineered solutions
  • Conduct customer visits, presentations, and project discussions
  • Serve as the liaison between customers and manufacturing partners
  • Track sales activity, pipeline growth, and project opportunities


What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical field
  • 8+ years of engineering or technical industry experience
  • Experience working with utilities, ideally DTE Energy and/or ITC
  • Medium- to high-voltage electrical experience
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to manage your own territory and schedule
  • Comfortable traveling locally throughout the Detroit area

Nice to Have

  • Protective relay experience
  • SCADA systems knowledge
  • Ethernet communication devices experience
  • Prior sales engineering or customer-facing technical experience


Location: Detroit Metropolitan Area

Compensation: $170K–$200K Base + Strong Bonus Potential

Travel: Local travel 2–3 days/week
