We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Application/ Software Design & Release Engineer to join our innovative Body Controls Organization. In this role, you will lead the design, development, integration, validation, and release of embedded software supporting advanced 48V DC-DC converter systems powering next-generation vehicle electrical architectures.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge automotive technologies involving embedded software, power electronics, cybersecurity, functional safety, and vehicle integration while collaborating with global engineering teams and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the software design, development, validation, and release process for 48V DC-DC converter modules.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal engineering teams throughout the software product lifecycle from concept through production.
- Translate functional, diagnostic, cybersecurity, safety, and quality requirements into detailed software specifications.
- Review supplier software architectures, test plans, validation reports, and deliverables to ensure compliance with Ford standards and automotive best practices.
- Support software integration, bench testing, and vehicle-level validation activities.
- Drive root cause analysis and issue resolution during development and testing phases.
- Participate in cross-functional reviews including FMEA, design reviews, and quality assessments.
- Ensure compliance with ASPICE, ISO 26262, cybersecurity, and automotive software development standards.
- Track software deliverables, milestones, and KPIs to support successful program execution.
- Stay current with emerging technologies related to automotive embedded systems, power electronics, and 48V architectures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of embedded automotive software development experience.
- Strong understanding of:
- Embedded systems development
- Automotive software lifecycle
- ASPICE & ISO 26262
- Power electronics and DC-DC converters
- 48V vehicle architectures
- Automotive cybersecurity principles
- Experience working directly with automotive suppliers.
- Strong problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) skills.
- Excellent communication and project coordination abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience with Ford GPDS tools (WERS, Integrator).
- Knowledge of:
- UDS / OBD-II diagnostics
- Requirements management tools (DOORS, JAMA)
- Power converter control strategies
- Bench or dyno component testing
- Software validation methodologies
