The Opportunity

This role is designed for a proven engineering services sales professional who understands the automotive industry and knows how to build and grow strategic customer accounts.

You will be responsible for:

  • Driving new business growth
  • Expanding existing customer relationships
  • Leading strategic sales pursuits
  • Positioning engineering and technology solutions
  • Developing long-term customer partnerships

You will work directly with OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, engineering leaders, purchasing organizations, and executive stakeholders throughout North America — with a primary focus on Southeast Michigan.

What We’re Looking For

We are specifically seeking candidates with:

  • Direct experience selling Automotive Engineering Services
  • Proven success in developing and closing engineering business within OEMs and Tier suppliers
  • Strong automotive industry relationships within Southeast Michigan
  • Experience managing complex, solution-based sales cycles
  • The ability to engage effectively with both engineering and executive leadership teams
  • A consultative, customer-focused approach to business development


This is not a traditional staffing sales role. We are looking for someone who understands engineering-led solution selling, customer strategy, and long-term account development within the automotive engineering ecosystem.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Development

  • Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with automotive OEMs and Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers
  • Drive revenue growth through engineering services, technical consulting, and strategic delivery engagements
  • Develop and execute account growth strategies to expand customer penetration and wallet share
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline from lead generation through contract execution
  • Identify opportunities for long-term engineering partnerships, managed services, and delivery models
  • Position the organization as a strategic engineering and technology partner


Account Executive & Customer Management

  • Build and maintain executive-level customer relationships across engineering, purchasing, and program organizations
  • Lead customer engagement activities, business reviews, and growth discussions
  • Understand customer priorities, vehicle programs, engineering challenges, and sourcing strategies
  • Collaborate closely with delivery and engineering teams to align customer needs with technical solutions
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and long-term relationship growth
  • Support strategic account planning and customer expansion initiatives


Commercial Leadership

  • Lead proposals, pricing strategies, commercial negotiations, and contract discussions
  • Own pipeline management, forecasting, opportunity tracking, and sales reporting
  • Partner with technical and solution teams to develop differentiated customer value propositions
  • Manage complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and engineering disciplines
  • Support smooth transition from sales to delivery execution


Market & Industry Engagement

  • Stay current on automotive technology trends, market shifts, and competitive activity
  • Translate emerging mobility trends into actionable business growth opportunities
  • Represent the company at customer meetings, trade shows, networking events, and industry forums
  • Support initiatives that enhance market visibility and strengthen customer engagement

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or related discipline
  • 8+ years of direct experience in Automotive Engineering Services sales, business development, or strategic account management
  • Proven track record of successfully selling engineering services within the automotive industry
  • Strong relationships with Automotive OEMs and/or Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers in North America
  • Demonstrated success in closing mid-to-large-scale engineering engagements and achieving revenue growth targets
  • Strong understanding of automotive engineering, embedded systems, electrification, SDV, and digital transformation
  • Experience managing complex customer engagements and multi-functional sales cycles
  • Strong executive presence with excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience with CRM tools, forecasting, pipeline management, and strategic sales planning
  • Ability to travel; up to 30% throughout North America, with occasional overseas travel
  • Strong preference for candidates located in Southeast Michigan


Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing customer relationships within major automotive OEMs and Tier suppliers
  • Experience selling services related to:
  • Electrification / EV Engineering
  • Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV)
  • Embedded Systems & AUTOSAR
  • Connected & Autonomous Technologies
  • Mechanical & Product Engineering
  • Digital Engineering / PLM / Industry 4.0
  • Experience supporting engineering outsourcing, managed services, or global engineering delivery models
  • MBA or advanced business/technical qualifications are a plus
