The Project Lead – Mexico is responsible for leading, coordinating, and managing all Mexico based project activities in support of the WIFA Long Term Water Augmentation Fund Program. This role acts as the primary in country leadership interface for Acciona, ensuring that feasibility, design, technical, permitting, commercial, reporting and construction related activities executed in Mexico are aligned with WIFA program objectives, U.S. client and contract requirements, and cross border project delivery needs.


The position plays a critical role in coordinating multidisciplinary teams operating in Mexico, managing local stakeholders, supporting cross border interfaces, and ensuring seamless integration between Mexico based workstreams and the US based program leadership teams.



  • Project Leadership & Coordination: Lead WIFA-related activities in Mexico, coordinating feasibility, permitting, technical studies, and construction support while ensuring alignment with overall program objectives.
  • Cross-Border Coordination: Act as the main interface between Mexico- and U.S.-based teams, supporting integration of cross-border infrastructure and project execution activities.
  • Stakeholder & Regulatory Management: Manage relationships with authorities, regulators, utilities, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders across Mexico and the U.S.
  • Technical & Design Oversight: Coordinate technical inputs, feasibility studies, and design development activities, ensuring alignment with engineering, constructability, and operational requirements.
  • Construction & Execution Support: Support construction planning, logistics, budgeting, execution strategies, and contractor coordination for Mexico-based scopes.
  • Commercial, Schedule & Risk Management: Support cost estimates, scheduling, reporting, and risk management related to permitting, logistics, environmental, and cross-border execution challenges.
  • Reporting & Governance: Provide progress updates, risk assessments, and reporting to project leadership; participate in governance and executive coordination meetings.

What We’re Looking For


  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects in Mexico
  • Background in water, desalination, or cross-border infrastructure projects preferred
  • Strong understanding of Mexican permitting and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholders
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills
