Elevate your expertise by engineering the agentic AI layer of Australia's premier e-commerce ecosystem. Transition from traditional development to a future-focused role where cloud-native infrastructure meets sophisticated machine learning at scale.

About New Aim

New Aim stands as Australia’s largest and fastest-growing private e-commerce powerhouse. We are not just a retailer; we are a technology-first B2M (Business-to-Many) ecosystem. Our proprietary platforms—including the AirOxy AI-powered analytics engine and the Dropshipzone B2B2C marketplace—leverage sophisticated procurement algorithms, real-time multi-channel integration, and automated price decisioning to redefine the Australian retail landscape.

From our Melbourne HQ, we manage a massive hybrid Azure/GCP estate that powers an unrivalled supply chain, delivering over 8,000 SKUs to 70% of Australian households. When you join our Platform team, you are engineering the data pipelines and agentic AI layers that orchestrate 4 million+ annual shipments across 40+ digital channels. We offer the scale of a market leader with the technical agility of a high-growth AI laboratory.

What You'll Do

  • Platform engineering — Deliver scoped features across GCP-based data, AI, and application services (BigQuery, Vertex AI, Kubernetes, and related), across APIs, ingestion/crawler jobs, and infrastructure-as-code configuration.
  • Data & AI delivery — Develop data pipelines (Databricks, dbt, cross-cloud Azure→GCP) and contribute to agentic-commerce and AI initiatives using Vertex AI Vector Search, Gemini, and embedding-based retrieval.
  • Operations & quality — Contribute to operational stability (monitoring, on-call response, bug triage) and participate in code review, incident response, and cross-team documentation.
  • Growth — Grow depth in one or more of data modeling, GCP services, or AI/ML infrastructure.

What You’ll Bring

  • Technical Versatility: 3–5 years of software or data engineering experience with proficiency in Python and exposure to Go, Node.js, or Rust, backed by solid SQL fundamentals.
  • AI-Augmented Fluency: Hands-on experience directing AI coding tools (such as Cursor or Claude Code) and a functional understanding of LLMs, RAG, and tool/function calling.
  • Cloud & DevOps Literacy: Working knowledge of major cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes.

What You’ll Experience

  • Work-Life Harmony: A progressive hybrid work model designed to support your professional goals and personal well-being.
  • Impact-Driven Culture: The opportunity to influence a tech-driven local success story that is redefining the Australian e-commerce landscape through cutting-edge AI automation.
  • Diverse Professional Network: Work within a multicultural and collaborative environment that values diverse perspectives and technical curiosity.

The Perks

  • Free on-site parking
  • Unlimited Freshly brewed coffee and fruits
  • Generous employee discounts on over 7,000 products
  • Company funded events, including end of quarter celebrations, the Biggest Morning Tea, Christmas event celebrations, etc.
  • Internally funded team engagement activities such as team lunch, birthday celebrations, etc.
  • Flexible working hours for work-life balance
  • Novated leasing
