Role Description

The Storytelling Lead is a key creative and strategic role within Blast Group. The role is responsible for shaping and amplifying how the Group and its entities communicate their mission, impact and ideas to the world. You will lead the development of compelling content across channels — from long-form storytelling to social media — that engages stakeholders, partners, changemakers and the broader community who care about nature and climate.

Working closely with the Communications Manager, this role will translate complex ideas into accessible, inspiring narratives that reflect Blast Group and its associated brands – LRX, Barbaloot, LEEAF, and Phantm.

You will bring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution — comfortable owning the content calendar one day and crafting a deep-dive piece the next.

Qualifications

Essential

• Minimum of five years’ experience in content creation, communications, journalism or a related field, with a strong portfolio of written work.
• Proven ability to manage social media channels professionally, including content planning and scheduling, creation and performance reporting.
• Exceptional written communication skills — you write clearly, creatively and with purpose across different formats and audiences.
• Strong understanding of storytelling principles and how to translate complex or nuanced topics into engaging content.
• Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and/or basic video or audio editing.
• Experience developing and managing a content calendar across multiple channels.
• High level of self-direction and initiative, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Desirable

• Experience working in or alongside environmental, social impact, not-for-profit or philanthropy sectors.
• Photography and/or video experience.
• Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailchimp) and website CMS tools.
• A genuine interest in nature, biodiversity, climate and regenerative practices.
• Tertiary qualifications in something that helped build your experience.
