Indexed description

We are seeking a Project Engineer to support commercial electrical construction projects within a self-perform electrical contractor environment specializing in healthcare and institutional work.

This is a hands-on project execution role, not a purely administrative one. You will work directly alongside Project Managers across the full project lifecycle — from preconstruction planning through closeout — contributing to coordination, documentation, and field alignment on active job sites. For the right candidate, this role offers a well-supported path toward advancement into a Project Manager position within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers across all phases of the project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout
  • Assist with the preparation and management of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Coordinate with field teams, electricians, and foremen to ensure plans and execution remain aligned
  • Interface with general contractors, inspectors, and vendors on project-related matters
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
  • Assist estimating teams with takeoffs, scope reviews, and project setup activities
  • Collaborate with BIM teams to identify and resolve design conflicts and support the development of field-ready plans
  • Track project schedules, material procurement, and delivery timelines
  • Maintain accurate and current records within project management and ERP systems

Requirements

  • 2-5+ years of experience in commercial electrical construction in a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or comparable role
  • Electrical contractor background required
  • Demonstrated experience supporting project coordination including RFIs, submittals, scheduling, and field communication
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and construction documents
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, Accubid, or similar construction management tools preferred
  • Genuine interest in growing into a Project Manager role over time
  • Hands-on involvement in project execution and day-to-day coordination required
  • Commercial electrical experience required — residential-only or GC-only backgrounds will not be considered

Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Health insurance and benefits package
  • Retirement plan options
  • Paid time off
  • Defined advancement path toward a Project Manager role
  • Opportunity to contribute to large-scale healthcare and institutional construction projects
