Job Summary

The Speech Motor Learning Lab (Principal Investigator (PI): Hilary Miller, Ph.D., CCC-SLP) at the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Connecticut Storrs campus is seeking a highly motivated research assistant/lab manager to join their team to work on projects investigating speech motor control and motor learning in pediatric motor speech disorders.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Overseeing daily lab operations, including establishing community partnerships and recruitment of research participants.
  • Managing data storage and processing.
  • Development of IRB protocols and coordinating other research documentation.
  • Managing lab equipment and the lab website.
  • Behavioral and neuroimaging data collection and analyses.
  • Dissemination of results via presenting at conferences and writing manuscripts.
  • Collaboration with and coordination of other lab members, including undergraduates.
  • Other project-relevant tasks assigned by the PI.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communication disorders, neuroscience, computer science, linguistics, psychology, or a related discipline. obtained by the appointment start date.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation with project management skills.
  • Experience working in a lab/research setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership or managerial experience.
  • Experience working with pediatric populations.
  • Programming experience (any language).
  • Experience in learning technical skills efficiently.
  • Experience submitting protocols to an Institutional Review Board (IRB).
  • Experience with REDCap (or similar project management) and Microsoft software, including SharePoint, Excel, etc.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, MRI or other neuroimaging tools, audio equipment and/or acoustic analysis.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 12-month position subject to annual renewal, contingent on satisfactory performance and funding, with an anticipated start date in Summer 2026 (some flexibility). Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the American Association of University Professors UConn Chapter (AAUP).
