The Role
You’ll take full ownership of the engineering organisation (~25 engineers via Heads of) and be responsible for:
- Running and evolving high-volume live systems
- Driving architecture, scalability, and infrastructure decisions
- Working closely with teams to guide technical direction and challenge decisions where needed
- Leading across Node.js, cloud, Docker & Kubernetes
- Elevating engineering standards, delivery, and reliability
- Building a high-calibre team through strong hiring and leadership
- Establishing robust, scalable, and secure systems (ISO readiness)
This is a hands-on leadership role — not a step away from tech. You will stay close enough to the systems and teams to influence architecture meaningfully.

- Proven track record leading transformation within engineering organisations
- Proven track record building and scaling high-performing teams
- Strong hiring instincts — you know what “great” looks like
- Ability to engage deeply in architectural discussions and guide technical decisions
- Experience operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
