Indexed description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a US Lawyer (iWills & iWaqf) in the United States.
This is a high-impact legal and business-building role focused on launching and shaping a new US-based private client estate planning service. You will play a central role in designing the legal, operational, and regulatory foundation for a scalable offering covering wills, trusts, probate, estate administration, and tax planning, with a unique focus on faith-aligned legacy planning. Acting as both legal expert and strategic builder, you will help define service models, draft core documentation, and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The role combines deep technical legal expertise with entrepreneurial execution, requiring close collaboration with product, compliance, operations, and leadership teams. You will contribute directly to building a mission-driven platform aimed at making estate planning more accessible and meaningful for underserved communities. This is a rare opportunity to move beyond advisory work and actively shape a new legal service from the ground up.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the legal strategy and execution required to establish a US-based private client estate planning service, ensuring full regulatory and operational compliance.
- Advise on entity structuring, licensing requirements, and state-by-state legal considerations for launching estate planning and probate services across the United States.
- Design and deliver legal services covering wills, trusts, probate, estate administration, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
- Draft, review, and maintain client-facing legal documentation, templates, workflows, and guidance materials to ensure consistency and legal robustness.
- Develop Shariah-aligned estate planning solutions, including Islamic inheritance structures, charitable giving models, waqf-inspired frameworks, and legacy planning tools.
- Provide legal guidance on federal and state tax considerations, including estate tax, gift tax, trust administration, and succession planning.
- Identify and mitigate legal, regulatory, and operational risks while working with external counsel where needed to ensure compliance.
- Partner cross-functionally with product, compliance, operations, marketing, and technology teams to build scalable legal processes and customer journeys.
- Support the development of go-to-market strategies, internal training, and educational initiatives for estate planning services.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law in at least one US state.
- Strong background in private client law, including wills, trusts, probate, estate planning, and estate administration.
- Solid understanding of US tax frameworks related to estates, gifts, trusts, and inheritance planning.
- Proven experience drafting legal documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and estate planning agreements.
- Ability to operate in early-stage environments, building legal frameworks, processes, and service models from scratch.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to translate legal analysis into practical, business-oriented solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills and comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with multiple priorities.
- Collaborative mindset with experience working across multidisciplinary teams including product, compliance, and operations.
- Bonus: familiarity with Islamic estate planning principles or experience in faith-aligned financial/legal services.
- Competitive compensation package aligned with experience and market standards
- Opportunity to build a new legal service line from the ground up
- High-impact entrepreneurial role with strong ownership and strategic influence
- Collaborative, cross-functional working environment
- Exposure to global fintech and Islamic finance innovation
- Opportunity to shape meaningful, community-focused legal services
- Flexible working arrangements (remote-friendly)
- Professional growth in a mission-driven, high-ownership role
- Direct involvement in product, operational, and strategic decision-making
