In this role, you will serve as a key front-line contact supporting insurance compliance operations within the surplus lines space. You will manage client communications across email and phone while ensuring accurate handling of regulatory filings, tax reports, and payment confirmations. The position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with state regulations and strengthening client trust through timely, precise service. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, regulators, and clients in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment. Beyond daily support, you will contribute to process efficiency, mentor team members, and help resolve escalated issues. This is a highly operational yet client-facing role where accuracy, communication, and reliability directly impact service quality and customer satisfaction.
Accountabilities
- Manage client communications by responding to emails, inquiries, billing questions, and payment confirmations in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare, process, and distribute surplus lines tax reports, tax payments, and filing confirmations in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Communicate and coordinate with state regulators to ensure ongoing compliance with surplus lines rules and filings.
- Support backend operational workflows, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and proper documentation across systems.
- Serve as a mentor and guide to team members, providing training and day-to-day support on processes and best practices.
- Act as an escalation point for client and operational issues, contributing to resolution and client satisfaction.
- Support cross-functional teams and leadership with backup coverage and operational assistance as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; surplus lines or insurance experience strongly preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in surplus lines tax filing or insurance compliance operations.
- Property & Casualty (P&C) license preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to handle client interactions professionally and de-escalate issues.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage process-driven work with accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Comfortable learning and navigating multiple systems and internal tools.
- Competitive hourly compensation ranging from $19.63 to $33.13 per hour, based on experience and location.
